Westeros: Post-Dawn Age

Description

This is a little project I've been working on.  Here we see Westeros, roughly 500 years after the end of the Long Night.  The Children of the Forest are greatly reduced and the Giants have been wiped out south of the Neck.  Along the western seaboard the First Men live at the mercy of the Ironborn, unstoppable with their iron weapons and armour.  The Wolf Kings of Winterfell continue to push the expansion of their lands, the Green King of the God's Eye rules the riverlands as a living deity, and everywhere men make war as they have done since the dawn of time.

I'm working on annotating it but that can be easily edited in tomorrow.  I'm also thinking of cleaning up the rest of the Planetos map and showing Essos.

Basically this is Westeros during the "Age of One Hundred Kings", though exactly how many of those little statelets are monarchies is up for debate.  The map was made after a few weeks of trawling over The Lands of Ice and Fire map collection, and The World of Ice and Fire history book.  But of course both these weren't very detailed on a lot of issue, so some of this stuff is just straight made up.  In my defence even the Maester's say that they know fuck all about this period of history, so I think I made a fair crack at it.

I've worked in a few of my own pet theories.  The first one is that the Starks were the former banner men of the First Kings (that brown outline just north of the Neck).  Secondly that the Ironborn had discovered iron long before the Andals showed up, which is the reason for their initial massive advantage over the First Men.  Thirdly, the history of Westeros is fucked up beyond belief and the Maester's know next to nothing, even with their extensive records.

The colours represent particularly powerful lords and petty-kings, they're based off of their shields if they still exist.  Striped areas are basically just too full of tiny lords and kings to represent on a map.

Ask questions if you have any, criticize if you have one of those.

edit:  Updated the map slightly.

Why do you think Valyria never bothered trying to conquer any of mainland Westeros as far as we can tell?

They certainly could have done so with ease given how Aegon and his sisters with just three dragons did so.
