STOP ACTING LIKE CHILDREN by Todyo1798 STOP ACTING LIKE CHILDREN by Todyo1798
Americans will overreact to anything, especially their politics. I know people who claim that they're crossing the border into Canada the second a Republican steps into the White House, and I don't even have to mention about those personal armouries owned by the rednecks....

You'd think the most powerful nation on the planet would have a better sense of political realities wouldn't you? Like how if America turned into the new Third Reich, or 1984s Oceania, the rest of the world would simply unite against them and America would collapse due to lack of trade. But no, the worst case scenario will always happen without fail :(

Eh, through the command of Himmler the SS (who let's face it were the only proper Nazi's, the rest were just Germans in sexy uniforms) were pretty obsessed with Norse paganism, Aryans from Atlantis, various mythologies that would seem to indicate that the gods of peoples from all over the worlds were Aryans.

Christians never really liked them, though they did use the rather devout German Christianity as a tool to gain support in the first place.

I really love this broken logic. If this held any water then there would only exist like a 100 Christians in the entire world. Because, let's face it, 99% of all Christians don't do what the Bible tells them too and thus can't be considered "real" Christians.

They didn't? 43.91% voted for Hitler... there are a lot of Christians right there... not to mention all the Christian Jew hating that threw themselves at Hitler to kill those dirty Jews? Yeah... those Christians don't exist *cough* bullshit. Pretty sure you're saying next that Hitler was an Atheist in disguise and that he wasn't a Catholic Christian?

If what held any water?  Your first paragraph doesn't seem to be referring to anything I've said.  Also by Christians I meant the clergy, the Catholic Church, Protestant ministers, not anyone baptised a Christian.

Did you read my second paragraph?  I clearly said that they used Christianity to a degree, anti-Jewish rhetoric for example (a lot of it was originally written by Martin Luther, other pieces were from Catholic edicts during the Middle Ages) in the early stages, though the Nazi's themselves would not be considered to be an inherently Christian party like many of the modern European Conservative parties.  Christianity was more of a tool.

Well Hitler was a bapitsed Catholic and pretty devout in his youth, he wanted to train to be a priest didn't he?  Like Stalin as I recall (hose similarities worry me).  But we don't really know how devout he was.

Also you don't have to say Catholic Christian, I'm aware that Catholicism is a branch of Christianity.

America is a large country that lets people say whatever crap they feel like, so inevitably we have lots of dumb or psychotic people speaking up because they won't be arrested for being stupid.

No it does not. Hell I remember a quote from COD:MW2.

"We are the biggest military power in human history. Every fight is our fight, we don't get to sit one out."

It was a duty that the American government took upon themselves after WW2 to ensure nothing like it ever happened again. Either that or let the imperialists, Bolsheviks and neo-Fascists fight over the remians of the Old World. The less of two evils I think.

At least yours are more varied, in Ireland we have two main parties, Fine Gael and Fianna Fail, which have their origins in the original Sinn Fein party. One is just slightly more conservative than the other.

You are asking too much of us. We'll just keep on bickering and fighting among ourselves, as sad it it may sound, both parties(and their retarded fans) are always looking for ways to demonize the opposition.

It may sound perverse, but I think this is proof of how well our democracy works. In third world countries where people have no say in who their leaders are (or in countries where the press is heavily censored by the state *cough*North Korea*cough*) they are stuck with whoever the government picks for them. Sure, the mudslinging gets annoying at times ("Republicans are racists!" "Democrats are prostituting us toward China!") but I always take it with a grain of salt. Any party that spoke such vile things against the ruler in some backwoods African dictatorship would have been lined up against the wall and shot.

The America hating is a bit annoying, but understandable. The main problem is that most countries get the feeling that they can run other countries better, even allies and this can be irritating to both sides. Americans act the way we do politically because it's the way we like to do things.

Yes, I agree with you that some people who have this bloated idea of "USA number #1, My country right or wrong!" are well... yeah.

I on the other side have many friends that are not Americans (even tried to get a girl from Russia to go out with me, didn't work) and they are reasonable and wonderful people.

As for China, well I don't think they'll be the new world hegemony; I subscribe to the idea that a more balanced world between multiple superpowers is coming. America however, will probably keep chugging along like we always do.

Or I'll start a revolution and have New England join Canada. Which ever comes first. :P

Yeah we act like children, so what? It's our way. Despite all the grumbling and screaming we get together pretty well and at the end of the day we're all Americans. It's because no matter what we dislike each other a lot less than we dislike other countries, that includes our allies.

Or as one of my friends put it:

"We're Americans, we're fucked up in the head and a little bit whack. We stick together though, 'cus no one else has our back."

I could see how you would think that. In all honesty though, that is how many feel. In the end, many feel we can only rely on each other, not our allies across the Atlantic and Pacific that come and go. It's the reason why you get a lot of these mind your own business comments.

It's a "they may be filthy hippie commie fags/ heartless corporate moron whores, but they're ours! So fuck off." Kind of attitude.

I don't dislike non-American countries. Although sometimes the European nations seem like judgmental know-it-alls and the Asian nations seem like whiny children. It's just the way they are.

Again, from here I can relate to you and how you feel. Its just true that hating on America is kind of an hype in the world. I dont agree with how the US government does certain things and I dont agree with what "some uneducated" Americans think about there place in the world. But I dont hate the country, I know quite some Americans and for the most they are all rational and good people.

My China comment was more directed into something else entirely actually. America cant go on like this and its (in my eyes) only a matter of time before China takes the spot. I just wonder what will happen then. I guess time will tell.

No offence, but terrible idea. What do you think the South would look like if you just let the Republicans do whatever they wanted without repercussions? It would make Facist Italy look like a bastion of Gay rights!
Seriously, secession don't solve nothing. Like Cascadia in PNW, I garuntee that with 10 years of them secedding it'll look like a Maoist labour camp. Not that I'm complaining, if it weren't for shithole countries I'd be out of work :p
